On the occasion of European Statistics Day, the ONSS launched its new Employment Barometer this Tuesday, a monthly indicator offering a quick and reliable overview of recent employment trends in Belgium.

This tool is based on Dimona declarations, allowing the ONSS to identify labour market trends almost immediately, thus surpassing the speed of traditional quarterly statistics. The barometer helps detect signs of growth or slowdown more rapidly and provides monthly figures that can be broken down by sex, age group, and region of residence of salaried workers.
It is important to note, however, that the Employment Barometer is a rapid cyclical indicator. The data, derived from Dimona declarations, offers less detail on working hours, worker status, or sector compared to quarterly statistics.
The new barometer does not replace the detailed quarterly statistics but complements them by offering an earlier overview of labour market developments. It is published monthly on the ONSS website and their LinkedIn page.
